What a worn pool wall looks like before it lets go
An above-ground pool wall is the part of the pool that stands out in the weather every day of the year: summer sun, rain, snow melt and the freeze and thaw of a Michigan winter. A steel wall tends to show it first along the seams and at the base, where water sits. Look for flaking paint, rust blooming through, or a panel that has started to ripple or bow when it was dead straight the year the pool went up.
A wall that bows or rusts through is more than a cosmetic problem. It holds the liner, the water and the weight of everything pushing outward, so damage you can see from the deck is worth a phone call now, not after a leak. Homeowners in Clinton Township, Detroit and the surrounding areas have been calling us about exactly this since 1973.
Repair when repair is enough, a new wall when it is not
Not every damaged wall needs replacing. Call (586) 463-2090 and we will look at how far the damage has gone, then tell you whether a standard repair or a pool wall replacement is the better answer for your pool. The estimate is free, and we would rather give you the straight answer than the bigger job.
When replacement is the answer, it is our own wall. Since 1973 we have specialized in pool wall replacement, and we developed our own long-lasting half-inch aluminum-faced walls to do it. Aluminum is a sensible skin for something that lives outdoors, because it does not rust the way bare steel does.
We work on Kayak, Hendon, Olympic and Wilkes pools as well as rectangular wood pools, so bring us the pool you actually have. Because every yard is different, we give you a detailed diagnosis of the pool and the work it needs before anything starts, laid out to save you time and money.
Keeping a new wall standing, and when to call again
A new wall still lives outdoors, so a few minutes each spring pays for itself. When you open the pool, run a hand along the face and the seams, look for any panel that has shifted, and check the base for soil that has washed out or stays wet. Keep soil, mulch and stacked firewood back from the wall so water has nowhere to sit against it.
Call again if you spot a bulge, a fresh rust streak, a corner that seems to have moved, or water where there should be none. We answer Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at (586) 463-2090 or (734) 374-2939. The promise we have kept around Detroit since 1973 is simple: you should not have to call us back for the same repair.
