What gives out first on a wood pool
A wood pool is held up by its frame, and the frame is wood that spends its life next to water. The trouble spots are the same on most of them: framing that has gone soft where it stays wet, braces that have loosened or rotted at the base, and a wall that has started to lean outward because what holds it has weakened.
Metal pools have their own version. Corrosion works at the uprights, the base and the fittings, and it hides behind the liner and the soil until a panel bows or a leak shows. If you can see rot, rust or movement from the deck, the structure is already telling you something, and it is worth a call.
Bringing an older pool back instead of writing it off
We are wood pool repair specialists. We take on structure repair for metal pools and wood pools, liner replacement, wall replacement and the restoration of older pools, including Kayak, Hendon, Olympic and Wilkes pools and any rectangular wood pool.
A lot of owners assume an old wood pool is finished. Often it is not. Because every yard is different, we give you a detailed diagnosis of the pool's features and the work it actually needs, so you can see whether restoring the pool you have makes more sense than starting over.
Call (586) 463-2090 for a free estimate. We are in Clinton Township and work on pools in Detroit and the surrounding areas, and when a repair will do we say so.
Keeping the frame dry and checked
Wood lasts when it can dry out. Keep soil, mulch and leaf litter pulled back from the base of the frame, make sure rain and sprinkler runoff drain away from the pool rather than toward it, and fix a dripping fitting or a weeping liner seam early, since a slow leak soaks the wood behind it.
Check the braces and the lower framing each spring when the pool opens and again in the fall before it closes. Press on anything that looks dark or feels soft, and watch for a wall that has shifted since last season. If something has changed, call (586) 463-2090 or (734) 374-2939, Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Our promise since 1973 is that you will not have to call us back for the same repair.
